Date night...

was tonight.

If you are married with kids...you need date night.  Date night for us is very important, in fact some times it ranks right up there with breathing. When you have 3 kids, 2 dogs a house and 2 jobs between you it is VERY easy to forget that you once liked spending time alone together. PLUS I think it is very good for our kids to see us as a couple and not just the mean dictators parents . For them to see that WE REALLY do like each other and there is more to us than them.

I tell all my friends that I will babysit if they need date night. SERIOUSLY. Because there was a time when Tom and I NEEDED a date night and there were no babysitters to be had. NONE and we had to pathetically pretend to be on a date with take out Outback on the coffee table with candles when the kids went to bed.

NOT the same thing people. Somehow it loses it appeal when the kids yell from their rooms "Mommy what are you eating? It smells gooooood"

It will work in a pinch but truthfully date night is about GETTING OUT of the house away from the 3 kids and 2 dogs, the massive laundry pile and the stack of crap you really need to deal with. It's all about walking behind your husband admiring what a cute a$$ he has...oh wait is that just me? It is also about remembering what it was like before the children came and to get a taste of what it will be like again some day. Which truthfully we are closer to that reality than most of our friends <cough:::::Jenn, whitney and michelle::::cough>. We are all about maintaining and making sure that when the kids are gone we will still want to hang out with each other:)

NOW date night doesn't have to be spendy. because if you are like us with 3 kids, 2 dogs and a house, sometimes the cash isn't there. But we make do. Sometimes our date night consist of going to the grocery store and then to the dollar menu dinner.

Tonight we had dinner at The Olive Garden and then we did some light shopping. We went to Michael's and Meijer where I got a KILLER deal on a new pair of tennis shoes.

They were on SALE for $15, they were $65. SERIOUSLY $15!!!!
Tom bought an OTT-Lite because he thinks he needs to see everything in "true color".
Oh and we got new cell phones today. YAY.

This weekend we have nothing planned but dealing with laundry and dogs and kids and other crap we have been putting off. Fun times. Fun. Times.

I am so glad that you had a nice date night! I luckily have a sister with whom I can trade babysitting, It sure is cheaper! I am taking you bargain hunting with me next time!
