I have a confession.
I have a confession.
I am addicted to reality TV.
I started out watching the Real World on MTV. (San Francisco all the way to Paris)
Then it was Real World and Road Rules.
Then it was Real World, Road Rules and the Gauntlet.
Then it was Real World, Road Rules, The Gauntlet, and Making the Band (1, 2 and 3)
I need to be entertained...by Reality TV.
After the Paris season of RW it lost its appeal. The cast got drunker and s.e.x dominated the events.
I guess I outgrew it. By outgrowing the RW I outgrew all of the MTV reality shows.
Now my tastes are more refined. I watch Project Runway (PR). But, that is only once a week for one hour.
Not enough.
I tried to fill in the rest of the time with books.
I read a lot of books. While they were great books, they didn't fill the void that reality TV filled.
B O R I N G
PR started and it wasn't enough. I used to watch Top Chef on Bravo but since I only like to EAT food and not COOK it...it lost its appeal after 3 seasons. They also have Shear Genius - a reality show contest about hair design. I was vulnerable and I got hooked. Soon to follow was Top Design..which yes, you guess it was a reality contest about interior design. YES I even watched the Housewives of Orange County AND New York and while I was at it I threw in Jeff Lewis's Flipping Out. While it looks like my reality TV card is full...it really isn't.
All of these shows are on Bravo. One ends another starts. They don't ALL run simultaneously. Last year I got hooked on Oxygen's Tori and Dean Inn Love. Since I can't leave well enough alone, I watched Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood this year.
After last seasons PR I jumped on the Grey's Anatomy kick. It isn't reality TV but...seriously? It is an awesome program! In a matter of months I watched 4 seasons..commercial free and I was caught up. Now there is a lull waiting for Grey's to start! So then one night I was channel flipping and I found VH1's I want to work for Diddy. Yep I was hooked. It was trashy entertaining enough to keep my interest but it wasn't riddled with booze and s.e.x.
I have gone back to books to help fill the spaces in between reality TV. I found a series by Janet Evanovich. It has the right mixture of s.e.x with out being raunchy, it is very funny and it is a good easy read. The best part? There are 14 books in this series! So far I have read 7 of them. Hopefully they will last until Grey's start.
Thank goodness we have 2 TV's because Tom rolls his eyes every time one of my shows is on! Thank goodness for the DVR, because I do have a life outside of my reality TV addiction!!
more refined - that cracks me up!! i also love tori and dean too! and gray's! now catch up on Weeds - that is some funny s.h.i.t!! seriously...you will love it!

so I just mentioned to Paul-- "I wonder how the start of the school year has gone for Lori,it's been awhile since we talked".He said- check her blog. Poof- it's all clear to me know. Reality TV. I have been cocooning at night with Harry Potter 7- yeah, I am a year late with the reading of this. I feel guilty that the FL book is not done and I have a ton of pictures (from my nepherw's wedding and WI) to load onto the computer, burn and distribute... but it feels so good to read until I fall asleep.
